Katsuyo Kobayashi was a real person

When Katsuyo first got married at age 21, she couldn’t cook at all! She quickly learned from her mother and her neighbours. Quickly, she became so good that she got her own television cooking show on Japanese TV. 

She won lots of TV cooking competitions and published recipe books, including one in English. She strongly believed in peace and was against wars and fighting.
