Uemura Shoen was a real person

Uemura was a Japanese painter. She was known for painting pictures of women in very beautiful colours. Even though Japan was becoming more modern at the time, Uemura stuck with traditional types of paints (made from crushed up rocks) and Japanese symbols.

She became very popular and was even made the official artist for the Japanese Imperial family (like the Royal Family). She was the first woman to have this job.

Every time you meet a woman who was a known historical figure, you get a Famous Woman Badge.
