Makiko Futaki was a real person

Makiko was an animator who mostly worked at Studio Ghibli. She worked on lots of different films like Princess Mononoke and My Neighbour Totoro. She especially loved drawing animals and plants.

Sometimes she would get bored working at Studio Ghibli, and needed to work on other projects, like illustrating comic books. Normally this wasn’t allowed, but the bosses at Studio Ghibli could see that Makiko needed freedom, so they let her.

She ended up working with Studio Ghibli for 33 years!

Every time you meet a woman who was a known historical figure, you get a Famous Woman Badge.
